Journals in Progress

I'm working on a little journal in which there are five sections, one for each of my cats. So when someone says 'Do you have any photos?' I'll be able to whip out my little decorated journal, well, that's the theory, my handbag is already full to bursting most of the time. It is based on my recollections of a tag book I saw online a while ago but I forgot to note the link. So if you recognise it let me know and I'll link it.

I was then looking at the small scraps of watercolour paper I had left over from a making another journal. If I folded them I would have a very tiny signature indeed so I decided to make fabric spines for them.

I just have to figure out a way of binding them and attaching a cover that doesn't cover up the fabric as I rather like it showing.

  2. Oh they're so pretty! Can you run a strong thread all the way through the spine of the fabric to hold it? Maybe sew a strong thread through the fabric real close to the edge...
or bind them on the other side!!! Let the pretty binding actually show!!
Turn over the page so that the outer edge is the fabric. It's just too pretty to cover up!
I love it when y'all come up with gorgeous ideas I can drool over!! I can't wait to see how you finish this book!!
Thanks so for sharing yours with us for Pearls and Lace!

  4. Hi, I've just linked across from Tag Tuesday, I thought I would see what people did as well as tags and yours was the first one I linked to. I am glad I'd did.
Your journal is looking and great and I wouldn't mind having a go at doing one myself. It's the pages with fabric spines I like. I've got a few books about bookbinding so I will have a look what they say. Shall I email you if I find anything.
Just going to join your blog folowers now.
Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing the end result.
