Looking back at Spring

It was a wonderful spring for aquilegias this year.  They are all self set from the introduction of a couple of plants about 6 years ago.  I just love their fairy dress like petals, so beautiful, swaying in the breeze.

I also know them as Grannies Bonnets, what do you call them?

  1. Here in Colorado arquilegias are known as columbine where the beautiful lavender blue grow wild in the aspen stands high in the Rocky Mountains at 11,000 ft. These are the state flower. They bloom there around the 4 th of July. You's are beautiful in all of their color.

  2. They thrive in my garden too and, despite looking delicate, withstand all that the weather can throw at them. I've heard the Americans call them columbines.

  3. I had these in the garden but didn't know their name - they are very pretty, I tried painting them but was unsuccessful, they are delicate, detailed little flowers. Haven't seen pink ones like yours before.
